Three Keys to a Happy Relationship
Sometimes, it can feel as if happy relationships are tough to come by at best and impossible to have at worst, but you should know that this isn’t always the case. In fact, you can take an unhappy marriage or relationship and turn it into something that your friends and family envy in no time, but you will have to do a little work and so will your spouse, so you have to be ready for it.
It Takes Two Baby!
The first piece of relationship advice is that both sides of the relationship need to realize that it is a partnership. Sometimes, it can feel as if we get separated and disjointed, but in order to get back to a happy relationship, you should really try to begin seeing yourself as a “unit”. Sure, you still have your own opinions and ideas, which make you a valuable individual, but you are working together to accomplish your goals and dreams. In order for any joint project to work well, both members of the marriage have to respect each other and their qualities. When you respect each other, it’s easier to listen and put ideas together.
Three Keys – Honesty, Trust, Communication
What would any good partnership be without full honesty? If you aren’t honest with each other, who can you be honest with, you’re together in the most intimate ways, so you have to know that your spouse can be honest with you. Joined to that is the ability to trust your spouse. In business, as well as marriage, we trust our partners not to steal from us and tell lies and we trust them to be faithful, not only to us, but to the commitment that was made. So, as a couple, one of the most important keys toward a happy relationship is to be honest and trustworthy.
Also, people in happy relationships really ‘like’ their spouse and if you want your marriage to be successful, then you need to like your spouse, too. Do you enjoy spending time with your other half? Do you feel as if you could go without any outside friends as long as your spouse was with you? If so, then you are well on your way to having a solid happy relationship. I am not saying you have to go without friends, I am pointing out your partner should be your best friend.
Another thing about the most truly happy relationships is that as a couple, people never stop working to keep each other and themselves happy. If a couple has a goal, whether individually or “for the family”, happy couples work together to reach it by supporting one another and communicating. If a couple has a problem, they work together to fix it and keep moving forward. So, when things seem to stand a little still in their relationships, couples who are successful will work to resolve the problem and get their marriage back on track.
Make a Happy Relationship For Life
You can make sure you have a happy relationship all the time, by working to let your spouse know that you’re happy to be with them. Make sure to give genuine compliments daily and don’t be afraid to talk about the little stuff, like why you love them and what it is about your partner that makes you especially happy. This adds to the feeling of trust and confidence in the relationship and often, it can make your husband or wife fall even deeper in love with you.
You should also make sure to spend time with one another. Even if you’re just watching your favorite television show together, just make sure that you do things together and enjoy each other’s company so that you can really maintain a healthy relationship.
Happy relationships are never easy. You are dealing with someone who is not you, so there is always a chance of misunderstandings and unhappiness. If you can work past differences and put your partner’s happiness over your own when you need to, (you can often feel happier, knowing you have done something good for your partner), you will find that you have a happy relationship for life.
